Andy’s Background & Qualifications

It all started when I was six.

Growing up in British Columbia, I spent much of my childhood swimming in lakes and exploring the outdoors. That passion eventually led me to become a certified lifeguard and swim instructor, and for over 15 years, I've had the privilege of helping swimmers build confidence, improve their technique, and develop lifelong water skills.

Today, I specialize in private coaching exclusively for adults. My approach combines years of teaching experience with my background in psychology, recognizing that learning to swim is often just as much a battle of the mind, as it is about developing technique.

Confidence in water creates opportunities

Looking back, I realize I took for granted in my earlier years just how free I felt to explore the lakes and oceans through swimming and paddling. It wasn't until later in life, upon discovering scuba diving and freediving, that I fully appreciated that connection. Diving completely changed the way I experienced the water, allowing me to explore our vast underwater world in a way I never could have imagined.

I created Andy's Aquatics because I want other adults to experience that same confidence and freedom.

Everyone's journey is different. Some clients are learning to swim for the first time, others are overcoming lifelong fears, improving their technique, or preparing for new adventures. My goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where every lesson is tailored to your goals at your pace.
